Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of probiotics?
Probiotics support the care of your gut – “second brain” – with health-boosting functions, including:

  • Helping to make serotonin
  • Helping to promote better digestion
  • Supporting a healthy gut-brain connection
  • Supporting healthy regularity
  • Supporting immunity

In a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, researchers found that oral administration of Lactobacillus plantarum daily for 6 weeks significantly decreased both markers of oxidative stress (37% reduction) and inflammation (42% decrease) in healthy men and women.
Are there ingredients I should look for in my vitamins for men?
There are important nuances to look for when choosing your daily vitamins. Beyond the expected ingredients, look for options that include necessary ingredients including Methylfolate, Methylcobalamin or vitamin B12, iron, vitamin D, probiotics, Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate or vitamin B6, and Omega-3.
Why is it important for adults to take vitamin D?
Adults, like children require vitamin D to support brain health and immune system health, to aid in absorbing calcium to build healthy bones, to boost your mood, and to help build nerve cells. While the body can make vitamin D, an estimated 50% of the worldwide population is deficient in vitamin D. It is challenging to get the vitamin D we need for optimum health, and this is why it is recommended adults take vitamin D supplements daily.
Are there specific nutrients I need as a 50+ woman?
Yes, as your body changes during the second half of your life, your supplement needs change as well. As a woman who is 50+, look for supplements including Methylcobalamin or vitamin B12, selenium, EPA and DHA, vitamin D, and probiotics.

Why does the Best Nest Men's Multi+ not contain iron?
For most men, the iron that they get through food is enough since men don't lose iron on a regular basis through bleeding.
Why are the probiotics not working?
For some, it may take 2 capsules a day for a few days to see significant changes. These changes may come in the form of increased eliminations or even gas. After it subsides, most customers can go back to 1 capsule per day to maintain their healthy gut flora.

Other symptoms are not common, and once your body has acclimated to the high dose of probiotics, you may not see any quick changes. The probiotics continue to work by increasing the amount of beneficial bacteria in your gut, and this is important for immunity, healthy skin and overall digestive health.
When is the best time to take my probiotic?
The best time to take probiotics is 30-45 minutes before eating a meal or at night about 2 hours after eating your last meal. Take your probiotics on an empty stomach with a glass of filtered water.

For best absorption, it is best to take probiotic supplements at times when stomach acids, digestive enzymes, and bile salts are at their lowest levels.

Some people experience a temporary increase in gas and bloating when first taking bacteria-based probiotic supplements or an increased amount. It is not known exactly why some people experience these side effects, but they typically subside after a few weeks of continued use. If you have these symptoms, we recommend starting with a low dose of probiotics and slowly increase to the full daily dose over a few weeks. This can help your body adjust to them. We suggest taking the probiotic capsule every other day until you've adjusted.
